@David Mihm Would love to play Pumpkin Ridge! Have heard lots of good stuff about it.

I see the similarity you mentioned about desert golf, but the dramatic elevation changes really negate that comparison for me. I do know it's hard to judge them based on pictures, but they are significant. Thanks for commenting.

@JR I kind of played it like the 17th at Medinah, only fewer balls in the water. I bananaed a 5-iron into the pond, then took a smooth 6 to the front of the green, and had the two-putt of a lifetime for a double. And so it goes. :)

Good stuff again, Dan. I too enjoy uncrowded courses. I won't say you won't see a soul in four holes, but the golf here in Oregon tends to be pretty great. I have still yet to play a round in longer than four hours at Pumpkin Ridge, and have played several at 2:15 or 2:30 (seriously!).

This course (Treetops) reminded me a little bit of desert golf, if you swapped the trees for sand. Lots of targets and funny-angled fairways.

Nice review. Gotta get there. Dying to find courses that are gorgeous and uncrowded.

So how did you fare on the 195 all-water hole? That reminds me of a very painful 17th at Medinah.
