Beautiful course. The views re just amazing, especially for Southern Indiana. As reviews above note, many fairways are very small and hard to hit. Even with a forecaddie, its tough consistently hitting the fairways. Its pricey but we played on a Friday morning in September and did not see another golfer until hole #36. Yes, we had the whole course to ourselves. A great track but beware of the small greens and narrow fairways.

Thanks for posting a great review with so many wonderful pictures. I am employed by the resort in French Lick. I enjoy seeing the delight on the golfers faces as they pull into the course and as they leave. They express great excitement before playing and show the same but with a tired look when leaving. I've yet to see a disappointed guest. Don't be a stranger... come back and visit us again!

The clubhouse (Mt Airie) was originally the home of Tom Taggart, a former mayor of Indianapolis and the "founder" of the roaring 20's French Lick. It was later a private home owned by an Indiana Landmarks board member and Orange County leader. Cook Group, out of Bloomington, IN developed the West Baden/French Lick area and purchased all that property realizing they needed a second top notch course. Pete Dye, being from Indiana and Indianapolis was the logical choice. Pete first saw the property and said no way, but came back and built this course.
I have played it twice. The second time, Mr. Dye was there on the ninth looking at a drainage issue with the waste bunker below and to the right of the fairway. He wandered across the fairway and was behind the ninth when I hit my approach on the green where he asked me how I liked the course...my smile was his answer.
By the way, Mr. Cook passed away a couple of weeks ago. He will be missed. What foreseight to invest in this wonderful area. West Baden is a total treat to visit and stay.
You can make a tee time ahead if you are staying at West Baden, same day if at French Lick. I did enjoy the gate at the entrance to the club. It gave the whole place an exclusive feel. the first time I was there, I think there were two groups on the course.
